Laco WUS Limited Edition Flieger 23833

Couple of weeks back, I was like a little kid at the custom's office, waiting to collect my watch. Then I found out I was slapped with a hefty GST! Shit! Anyway it was still worth it as this is a highly collectable timepiece. People may collect but I always believe in buying watches I will wear.

Another a little history abt the manufacturer. They were one of the 5 (IWC, Lange, Wempe, Stowa and Laco) commissioned to produce B-Uhr (a.k.a. Observer's Watch) during WWII, ard the 1930s. This piece is a commemorative piece requested by some forum and only 50 pieces were made. Fortunately I was able to pick one from the pre-owned market. Wohoo!

Without a good macro lens, it's difficult to get nice shots of this baby. Pictures dun really do justice. It's a pretty well made watch and at 42mm, pretty comfortable to wear. Recently, I also found that some members sent their case back to Germany to get better engravement. Thus I requested to get my re-engraved too. They obliged and send me a temporary caseback + a tool for opening the caseback.

It was a pretty good experience to perform this minor operation. First time I open up a watch. The movement isn't a really sexy one, ETA 2824 modified to handwinding with hack.

I'm patiently awaiting for them to send me back the new case. This watch will definitely be a keeper. Hope to own a Stowa and IWC Flieger watch some day...
